MT. PLEASANT—One can just imagine what goes through the mind of an outfielder when a fifth straight home run sails overhead.

That’s exactly what happened to North Sanpete baseball last week as rival Juab could not be stopped in a 3-0 sweep of the Hawks last Thursday and Friday. The Hawks’ record moved to 6-11 with a 3-6 mark in Region 14, which slotted them into last place in region play. They have lost five straight games.
Fans of home runs had plenty of enjoyment in watching the Thursday game between the two teams. North Sanpete hit one over the fence, courtesy of sophomore Andy Bailey, but the other six of the afternoon were all courtesy of Juab.
Over all three games, the Hawks were outhit, 30-17, but the third game between the two teams was much closer than before. Thanks to a home run from sophomore Logan Black, North Sanpete got out to a 2-0 lead on Juab that lasted three innings. Juab finally got on the board and retook the lead with five runs in the fourth inning. Despite another run by North Sanpete in the sixth, they couldn’t get back into the game.
The Hawks will have a rest from region play this week as they play host to Gunnison Valley this Wednesday for their only game.
