The annual Manti Fourth of July Tennis Tournament was a great success. Even though the temperatures were on the hot side, 40 participants joined in the action. Players from around Utah and some from out of state were involved.

Flight “A” featured several local players with college experience. Quinn Allred and Tim Smith emerged as the eventual winners edging out Enoch Ward and Brady Aste. Flight “B” was composed of a variety of ages and included men, women, and mixed doubles teams.

Flight ‘A’ winners, (L-R): Enoch Ward, Brady Aste (2nd) Tim Smith, Quinn Allred (1st).
Flight ‘B’ winners, (L-R): Joshua Thompson, Max Penrod (2nd) Tauna Anderson, Maia Franchetti (1st).

The winning doubles team was Maia Franchetti and Tanna Anderson who won in a third set tie-breaker over Joshua Thompson and Max Penrod. New this year was a Tie-Break- er men’s singles tournament which saw Todd Jorgensen defeat Matt Braithwaite to be the first to have his name added to the rotating trophy.

Trophies were awarded to the winners and runners-up. A great thanks for Manti City and the Fourth of July Committee for hosting the event at the Manti High School Wilbur Braithwaite Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
