North Sanpete’s unbeaten run ends against Richfield

RICHFIELD—North Sanpete’s fast start to the season came to a halt Friday night as the Hawks fell to Richfield 36-7 in their first Region 3A-South game of the season.

The loss dropped the Hawks to 3-1 overall and marked their first defeat of the season after opening the year with three consecutive victories.

North Sanpete struggled to generate offense for most of the night, managing just 84 passing yards and 155 rushing yards against the Wildcats.

Quarterback Luke Lee completed 9 of 16 passes for 84 yards, while Trexon Madsen led the Hawks with 74 receiving yards on two catches.

Timothy Mann was North Sanpete’s leading rusher with 55 yards on 16 carries, but the Hawks were held scoreless through the first three quarters.

North Sanpete’s lone touchdown came with 2:10 remaining when Chaetton Osborne broke loose for an 80-yard touchdown run. Osborne finished with 82 yards on three carries.

The Hawks also got defensive contributions from Mason Beesley, who recorded a team-high eight tackles, while Milo Hendry had seven tackles and an interception. Osborne added five tackles.

North Sanpete (3-1, 0-1) will look to rebound Friday when it hosts undefeated Canyon View in another Region 3A-South matchup. Canyon View enters the game at 4-0 (1-0) after defeating Carbon 58-7.
