TWIN FALLS, ID—The Snow College womens basketball team mirrored the success of the mens team over the Thanksgiving break by sealing two victories in an invitational tournament.
Snow participated in the Thanksgiving Tournament put on by the College of Southern Idaho and faced Miles Community College and the Idaho Select. Both games ended well for the Lady Badgers.
Against Miles, Snow fell in a hole early when the first quarter ended 22-14 in Miles’ favor. Snow got it together in the second and pulled ahead narrowly at halftime with a 34-31 lead.
After halftime, Snow let loose on the Pioneers and outscored them by 11. Miles could never make up the difference, and Snow got the win.
The Lady Badgers were led by three different freshmen in double figures. Guard Madison Mooring led Snow with 12 points and six rebounds.
The best was yet to come for Snow. Idaho Select, an all-star high school team from Idaho, proved not to be much of a challenge for the Lady Badgers who clobbered the select, 96-51.
Freshman guard Harley Hansen exploded for 24 points, nine rebounds, six steals, and two blocks. Overall, Snow shot 48 percent from the field.
Next week, the Lady Badgers will travel to Ontario, Ore. to participate in the Treasure Valley Tournament. Snow will face Mt. Hood Community College tomorrow and Chemeketa on Saturday.
