SPANISH FORK—Improvement is the name of the game, and last week, the Lady Hawks made a big step in that journey.
The North Sanpete girls’ basketball team took down American Leadership Academy last Thursday, 48-44, in a game where the final score was a lot closer than the actual game. The Lady Hawks’ record moved to 3-4 overall.
Coach Taylor Christensen did not make a comment about the game.
North Sanpete was considerably ahead of the Eagles for most of the game, going up 17-11 after the first quarter and leading by 14 after the third quarter. They also held the Eagles completely scoreless in the second quarter, which is the first time North Sanpete has held an opponent scoreless in a quarter since 2018.
In the fourth quarter, ALA attempted a furious comeback, scoring 28 points, but the Lady Hawks countered effectively with an 18-point fourth quarter to stave off the rally, their second-highest scoring quarter of the season.
Junior Tylee Henrie was impressive once again, scoring 20 points for her second consecutive 20-point game. Junior Kortley Cook added 10 points.
North Sanpete will have a home game against Carbon on Tuesday and then will face Millard on the road next Wednesday.
