MANTI—As of last Friday, the Lady Templars are back to being a winning team.
Manti softball claimed three straight wins last week, going 2-0 in the rivalry series with North Sanpete, and also blowing away 5A Wasatch on the road, 18-1, last Wednesday.
With the second win over North Sanpete, Manti moved above .500 in wins and losses for the first time this season with a record of 10-9 overall and 3-0 in Region 14.

The Lady Templars relied on stalwart defense to win the first game against North Sanpete, 3-0. The Lady Hawks managed only two hits in the game while striking out seven times. On offense, Manti got all their work done in the first inning with two singles and stealing home.
In the second game, Manti got the better of North Sanpete in the first inning, going up 3-0 again. After a long scoreless stretch, North Sanpete got on the board with a hit by junior Taylor Miramontes in the bottom of the fifth inning, which scored senior Jada Bailey , but that was as close as they could get. The final score was 4-1 for Manti.
In between the games against North Sanpete, Manti blasted Wasatch with the help of a home run by senior Tiffany Hermansen, while junior Madison Scottorn hit a triple. Both players finished with three RBI.
Manti sported a 6-0 lead after just the second inning and continued to shut down the Wasps all the way to the end, finally capping if off with eight runs in the seventh inning.
