NEPHI—An easy week for the Lady Templars turned into an easy win.

Manti softball had only one game last week, and the well-rested squad took care of business in dominant fashion last Friday, beating Juab in region play, 14-5. The Lady Templars’ overall record moved to 12-9, with a blameless 4-0 mark in Region 14. They have won six straight games.

Senior Tiffany Hermansen launched one over the fences for her fifth home run of the season, scoring three runners, while junior Alivya Osborn hit a triple and had three RBI.

Senior Ashley Rasmussen was phenomenal at the pitching mound, pitching 10 strikeouts while only allowing four hits.

After Manti scored six runs in the fifth inning to go up, 12-0, Juab narrowly avoided a mercy rule ending by getting on the board, answering with three runs, though Manti would not be threatened to the very end.

The Lady Templars have a busy week ahead of them as they draw close to the upcoming state tournament. After taking on Delta this Tuesday, they’ll be on the road to play Tooele this Wednesday, then return home to host Union in region play. They’ll also play Juab in region next Monday in a game that will be after press time.
