
Librarian passes away suddenly on Feb. 12

FAIRVIEW—Anna Gurley Francks, 49, a long-time librarian in Fairview and Ephraim, died unexpectedly last Sunday, Feb. 12 of a heart ailment.
For the past year, Francks had been an employee of the Utah State Library Division assigned to work half time in Fairview and half time in Mapleton, Utah County.
She didn’t ride on bookmobiles themselves but was in charge of the stationary libraries that supported bookmobiles serving Sanpete, Juab and Utah counties.
Previously, she worked at the Ephraim Public Library for 11 years.
Francks was born in Richfield, grew up in Payson and spent several years in Bountiful. She moved to Ephraim about 20 years ago.
She had an autistic son who requires supervision and who will be moving to Oregon to live with Francks’ married daughter. The family has set up a GoFundMe page to gather donations for the son’s support.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Ephraim LDS Stake Center, 400 E. Center St. Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Cedar City Cemetery. (See obituary)
