Manti City to launch public process to seek input for 2026 general plan update

MANTI—Manti City will begin a public process this month to update its general plan, a document that will help guide land use, infrastructure, parks, transportation, and other long-range city decisions for the next two decades.

City officials said the update will replace the current plan adopted in 2016 and will give residents, business owners, and other community members a chance to help shape Manti’s priorities through 2046.

The city has scheduled walking tours with Mayor Mary Wintch on April 13 at 5:30 p.m. and April 25 at 10:30 a.m. to look at neighborhood conditions and needs in person.

Manti also plans interactive community visioning workshops at 6 p.m. on April 22 and April 25 on the second floor of Historic City Hall, 191 N. Main St. City officials said the workshops will focus on Manti’s strengths, challenges and opportunities, and Spanish translation will be available. The sessions will also be recorded for later viewing.

Mayor Mary Wintch said broad public participation will be important because the general plan helps shape city decisions on land use, infrastructure, parks, transportation, and other services.

Community Development Director McKay Muhlestein said the update gives Manti a chance to decide what kind of city it wants to become rather than treating the plan as a document that sits unused on a shelf. Those topics, city officials said, include economic development, water use, parks and recreation, cultural and natural resources, and historic preservation.

City officials are directing residents to the city’s general plan webpage for updates, event information and email notifications as the process moves forward. The page says Manti is forming committees to assist with development of the plan and will share additional opportunities for public involvement as the process continues.
