SARATOGA SPRINGS—After many months of preparation, Manti High School cheer team successfully performed two routines with a perfect “hit” in cheer language at Westlake High School on Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Region Cheer.
“They went out with confidence and had so much fun,” Coach Trisha Hyde said.
The team was awarded two second place finishes and qualified with both routines for the State Cheer Competition, which will be held Jan. 21 at Salt Lake Community College.
Hyde said that they are excited to represent their school and division at the state competition.
“We have a really big team of 37 girls this year and it has been absolutely amazing,” she said. “These girls buckle down and work incredibly hard each practice from start to finish.”
Hyde also said that this team has a special bond. They are encouraging to each other and truly want each member to succeed. As soon as a member hits a hard skill or over comes a fear the rest of the team erupts with cheers and clapping. That kind of support you just can’t teach, and she truly credits their kindness and drive for their successful season!
“As a coach I couldn’t be prouder of these athletes! They are good girls, great scholars, and amazing leaders,” she said. “I love my girls and we can’t wait to finish this season strong.”
