Sanpete residents donate blood during Manti Red Cross drive

MANTI—Sanpeters donated blood Wednesday, Aug. 12 during an American Red Cross blood drive held in Manti to help replenish the region’s blood supply.

In the weeks leading up to the drive, the Red Cross encouraged eligible donors to participate, noting that each blood donation has the potential to help multiple patients facing emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatments and chronic illnesses.

The organization relies on volunteer donors to maintain an adequate blood supply for hospitals and medical facilities across the region. Summer months often see a decline in donations as regular donors travel or have changing schedules, making seasonal blood drives especially important. Donors were asked to be in good general health and meet Red Cross eligibility requirements.

They also were encouraged to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before donating. Donors received a $20 Amazon gift card.

According to the Red Cross, someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds, and volunteer donors remain essential to ensuring lifesaving blood products are available whenever and wherever they are needed.
