After back-to-back seasons that saw the Snow College football team play in the inaugural NJCAA playoffs and play in the national championship game the previous year, the Badgers are seeing some big holes emerge as key players are moving on to play at the next level.
“This is exactly what we want for our program,” said head coach Zac Erekson. “We want great players to come here and create team success which leads to individual success. It’s hard to have the individual successes without the exposure that is created by a winning program.”
One of the most highly recruited players, Keionte Scott has signed with Auburn. While at Snow College, Scott was a two-time NJCAA First Team All-American and NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year.
Additionally, two players have signed with in-state schools. Lisala Tai has signed to play with Brigham Young University. And with hard work, he has the potential to make an impact immediately and could be playing on Sundays in the future. Shad Pulsipher has signed with Weber State University and also has pro potential.
Three other athletes that played key roles in anchoring the Snow College defense have signed to continue their careers with universities outside the state.
Cortez Hogans was an NJCAA All-American and will take his talents to Boise State University. Seleti Fevaleaki will play for Oklahoma State University where another former Badger, Beni Tonga, is coaching. Noah Kema has chosen the University of Hawaii to continue his education and playing career.
“There are some big holes for us to fill for next year,” Erekson said. “We feel good about the path we are on with Snow College Football and we will continue to build our success on the backs of these great players.”
The Badgers will see some players from the offensive side of the ball move on as well. Tevita Noa has signed with Kansas and seems to be another NFL caliber athlete. Noa was also a two-time NJCAA All-American. Evan Svoboda who had limited time at quarterback at Snow College was contacted by Wyoming and he will be groomed in the mold of Josh Allen. Dyson Frank, who was a redshirt last year, received a full-ride scholarship at Nevada and will move on from Snow College.
“It’s hard to see these players leave because they have contributed so much to the program and been a big part of our success,” Erekson said. “But this is the nature of the business and this is what we want for all of our players, to come here and improve, but to move on and continue to grow.”
Snow College is currently recruiting and planning for spring practices and finalizing the fall 2022 schedule.
