Fernando Montano

EPHRAIM—Three employee on the Snow College staff, who the school describes in a press release as “unsung heroes,” have been named “Employees of the Fall Semester 2021.”

Fernando Montano, director of diversity and inclusion, was recognized for his deep commitment to Snow College and its students, a press release said. His role includes promoting recruitment and retention of students from diverse backgrounds.

According to a fellow employee, “Fernando truly loves Snow College and the students. He is committed first and foremost to students and their success, and is very passionate in helping others understand the influence they can have.”

Lisa Jones

Also recognized was Lisa Jones, director of finance and disbursements on the Richfield campus. According to the press release, she sits on hiring committees, shares her expertise with other departments and goes out of the way to make others feel happy at Snow College.

That has included helping bring housing to the Richfield campus and helping create the operation-and-maintenance yearly report.

Co-workers said, “Lisa is a rock star!” and “She is always tackling business problems; it’s what she does.”

Petra Brittner

Petra Brittner, a concurrent-enrollment academic advisor, who works with high school students taking college classes, was also recognized.

She was involved in an application for special accreditation with the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP), which could set Snow apart from almost every other comparable school in the nation.

According to the press release, she serves on the Title 9 hearing committee, which oversees issues of equal opportunity for men and women in sports and other pursuits, and extends her reach as an advisor to students who are applying to Snow.

The press release said all three employees worked hard and went above and beyond the call of duty, making Snow College a better place.
