OXNARD, CA—The infant season already has a good look for Lady Badger softball, having redeemed a slow start to rattle off a streak of four wins and a tie last Friday and Saturday.

Snow’s softball team traveled to face Taft College and Oxnard College in California for their last set of contests before the start of conference play, rolling over both teams surrounding a tie-game at Moorpark College on neutral ground. The Lady Badgers took down Taft, 5-1 and 8-5, before stalemating Moorpark, 3-3. They then dominated Oxnard, 4-0 and 8-0.

While Snow sneaked by the Lady Cougars of Taft in the first game of the doubleheader, the Lady Badgers made their mark in the second game, showing off explosive offense by scoring all eight of their runs in the game in two innings, leading by as much as 8-2 before the Lady Cougars went down fighting.

Oxnard proved to be no match for Snow as the Lady Badgers walked over the Lady Condors without allowing a single run in the doubleheader. Pitchers Sidney Barney and Sydni Sorensen were credited with the shutouts.

The Lady Badgers face a tough season as much as they have already seen, having faced two ranked opponents already, dropping both contests. As play opens for the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC), Salt Lake begins the season ranked No. 8 in the nation, while Southern Idaho comes in at No. 14.

Snow begins play in the SWAC, this week, playing their season home opener against Southern Nevada in a doubleheader tomorrow and Saturday. Game times are scheduled for 1 p.m. and noon, respectively.
