Spring City Pioneer Day theme is ‘Pioneer Sprit, Pioneer Strong’

SPRING CITY—Spring City will celebrate Pioneer Day with activities scheduled July 18-26 under the theme, “Pioneer Spirit, Pioneer Strong.”

According to Pioneer Day Coordinator Anne Osborne, the theme was selected through a community vote from several proposed options and is intended to recognize the town’s pioneer heritage.

This is Osborne’s first year coordinating the celebration. She said she assumed the role on short notice and chose to keep the event schedule largely the same as previous years.

Activities include a children’s baking contest, street dance, 5K run and 1-mile walk, community barbecue and parade. Registration and additional information are available at springcityutah.gov.

The celebration also features two history-themed community contests.

The Spring City Historical Scavenger Hunt begins July 18. A new clue will be posted each morning through July 22 at the Spring City Post Office and on the Spring City Facebook page. Each clue highlights an aspect of Spring City’s history, and participants who correctly solve all of the clues will be eligible to win. Winners will be announced July 24.

The Itty-Bitty Spring City Photo Contest begins July 19. Each day through July 22, participants will be asked to identify locations in Spring City based on close-up photographs posted on the town’s website. Winners will also be announced July 24.

Organizers said the activities are designed to bring the community together while recognizing the pioneers who settled the area.
