Manti High Cross Country runner Sadie Nielsen placed third overall at the State 3A Cross Country Championships at Rose Park on Oct. 27. She led the girls’ team to a solid fifth place finish; while the Manti boys’ team finished in a respectable sixth place overall.

“Sadie is new to cross country this year and in a short time has become one of the most gifted and natural distance runners Manti has ever had,” said Coach Brandon Norris.

With dedication and support from her teammates, Nielsen has a very bright future ahead, Norris said. Her time in the 5K race was 19:44, just a short 10 seconds behind the 2nd place finisher from Carbon. Not far behind was teammate Keltsy Fowles, who finished 16th with a time of 20:34.

The Manti girls’ cross country team finished in fifth place at the 3A state championships at Rose Park last week.
The Manti boys cross country team finished in sixth place at the state meet at Rose Park last week.
