MT. PLEASANT—The Wasatch Academy boys basketball team racked up another win on the road to (hopefully) another postseason appearance in New York City, as the Tigers defeated the Juan Diego Soaring Eagle 73-53 last Friday night, Feb. 16.
Advance preparation again allowed the Tigers to jump to an early lead.
Curtis Condie, Wasatch Academy’s coach, credited the preparation to the Tigers stifling defensive effort. Condie said, “I thought we did a very good job defensively. Their fourth time down the court, their leading scorer came up to me and said, ‘Coach, your guys know all our plays.’ I said, ‘Yes, we do.’”
The Tigers were led by Marvin “Tre” Williams III with 19 points and Matt Bradley with 18.
Wasatch Academy faced Jordan High School on Tuesday for Senior Night. Damion Squire, Matija Ilic, Matt Bradley and Bryan Penn-Johnson will all be honored.
Condie praised Jordan High before the game: “Jordan High School just clinched their region championship and are ranked in the top five in 5A. We will be fortunate to come away with a win.”
The Tigers are now ranked No. 20 by USA Today but will not hear for about three weeks whether they will be invited to the Geico Nationals in New York City.
