MT. PLEASANT—A good take on the Hawks’ first week of baseball? Optimistic.
Though coming out of the week with a losing record, North Sanpete’s baseball team nabbed two wins, just one less than last season’s total, beating Millard and Fredonia, Ariz., 4-2 and 10-5, respectively, in baseball’s opening week. The wins give the Hawks a 2-3 record amidst losses to Emery, 7-2, Kanab, 5-2, and Gunnison, 8-7.
Most of the Hawks’ action came in the annual Chuck Wagon Classic in Kanab, where they posted a 1-3 record. Their best offense came in their 10-run performance against Fredonia. Stats were unavailable for the game.
North Sanpete has two games this upcoming week, taking on 2A powerhouse North Sevier, ranked No. 5 in 2A by Deseret News, today at 3:30 p.m. at home. Next Tuesday, they will travel to face Gunnison, ranked No. 2 in 2A, also at 3:30 p.m.
