Miss Sanpete Valley’s Outstanding Teen, Noelle Condie of Gunnison, daughter of David and Robyn Condie.

The Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen competition is a week away, and Sanpete County has two remarkable young women competing for the title. For two days, Feb. 24-26, Lakely Brotherson, Sanpete County’s Outstanding Teen, and Noelle Condie, Sanpete Valley’s Outstanding Teen, will be onstage at the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo competing for the state title.

Traditional “sendoff” celebrations have been planned in their honor.

Condie’s sendoff will be held Monday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Gunnison Valley Middle School.

A sendoff for Brotherson will be Tuesday, Feb 22 at 7 p.m. at the Moroni Opera House.

The Miss Sanpete County Board invites the community to attend these special evenings and help celebrate their success and wish them luck. Admission is free.

Brotherson, of Wales, is currently serving as Sanpete County’s Outstanding Teen.

“Through this organization I have learned that hard work pays off, that service brings happiness to both the giver and receiver, and meeting new people is fun and you can learn a lot from other people,” Brotherson said.

Her favorite part of the Outstanding Teen competition is the evening gown portion. “I love to get dressed up and feel beautiful,” she said.

As to what she’s most looking forward to as the competition draws near, she said it’s all about making lifelong friendships. She has already met many girls at the workshops and is excited to spend time with her new friends.

“I’ve already met two girls that I’m super close with, and can’t wait to make more,” she said.

Miss Sanpete Outstanding Teen, Lakely Brotherson of Wales, daughter of Jared and Liz Brotherson.

Condie, of Gunnison, was crowned Miss Sanpete County’s Outstanding Teen during the height of the pandemic and has had to wait for her chance to compete on the Miss Utah stage. She will represent the county as Miss Sanpete Valley’s Outstanding Teen.

Through her time serving the communities of Sanpete County, Condie said she has learned public speaking skills, leadership skills and the value of service and community.

“Serving others truly brings you joy in a way that nothing else does,” she said.

“I have also learned the importance of poise, kindness, and courage through Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen. Nothing changes the world more than a woman who knows how to gracefully stand up for what she believes in.”

Condie is a performer at heart, participating in dance and musical theater her whole life, so naturally, her favorite part of the competition is the talent portion. She will perform a vocal solo on the Miss Utah stage.

Looking forward to the competition next week, she is most excited about meeting all

of the other candidates and making lifelong friends.

“These girls are Utah’s brightest. They are all extremely talented, educated and involved in their community,” Condie said. “I am honored to join the MUOT sisterhood this year.”

Both girls will be competing along with 41 other candidates for the job of Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen and over $150,000 in college assistance and opportunities. The Miss Sanpete County’s Outstanding Teen is part of the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen organization, which encourages positive achievement in young women between 13 and 17 years of age through nurturing and building scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement.
