Gunnison Bulldogs dispatch Grand County, 43-6, at home

GUNNISON—Gunnison Valley scored early and often Friday night, rolling past Grand 43-6 in a nonregion matchup.
The Bulldogs jumped to a 22-0 lead after the first quarter, getting a 4-yard touchdown run from Chance Hammond, an 18-yard touchdown run from Porter Dyreng, a safety and a 42-yard touchdown run from Dyreng.
Gunnison Valley continued to pull away in the second quarter. Ryder Donaldson connected with Brody Knudsen for an 18-yard touchdown before Knudsen added a 50-yard touchdown run, giving the Bulldogs a 36-0 halftime advantage.
Bear Bartholomew added a 23-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring for Gunnison Valley.
Grand (1-2) avoided a shutout when Kalvin Hopkins caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Corbin Black as time expired. Gunnison Valley’s defense held Grand scoreless until that final play of the game.
Gunnison Valley (2-1) will host Milford (1-2) tomorrow night, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
